How Often Should You Get Massage? Start with your life...

Weekly? Monthly? Whenever you remember? If you have wondered how often you should get a massage, there is not one schedule that fits everyone. Your goals, health, budget and actual calendar all matter.
Start with your reason...
What brings you in? Maybe you want time to rest, help with everyday tension or support during pregnancy. Name what you are hoping for before choosing a routine. A frequency that makes sense for one person may not be useful or realistic for another. We are your partner in accountability to whatever goals you have when it comes to massage frequency.
See at what happens between sessions...
Pay attention to your own experience rather than chasing someone else's schedule. What felt helpful after your last session? Did anything feel uncomfortable? What has changed in your work, activity or health since then? Those details are useful when you talk with your therapist about a next visit.
Your health comes first...
Massage is not appropriate for every situation, and it should not delay a medical evaluation. Share health conditions, recent injuries or procedures and any advice from your clinician. If you are pregnant or your health has changed, bring those updates into the conversation, too. A schedule is never more important than choosing care that is appropriate for you.
Make it sustainable...
A massage routine should fit your resources. It is okay to say, "This is what works for my budget," or "I can only make time once in a while." We can talk about your priorities without treating a particular frequency as a test of how well you care for yourself. Life is life sometimes and we get that.
Leave room to change your mind...
Your needs can change. So can your plan. You might revisit the timing after a few sessions, a change in your routine or a conversation with your health care team. There is no need to turn a helpful appointment into another thing you are failing to keep up with.
Start with one conversation...
At Asher Birth & Body, we offer therapeutic, prenatal and postpartum massage. Tell us what you are looking for and what is realistic right now. We can talk through your needs and possible next steps. You do not need a standing monthly appointment to deserve some care.
